Privacy
Privacy of Amenbo, Amenbo Viewer, and this site.
Amenbo (the product)
Amenbo has no central server. Your data — tasks, decision records, comments — stays local on your machine and never leaves it. There is no telemetry and no usage tracking.
The only time Amenbo talks to the network is to check whether a newer release is out: it reads a static latest.json
(version and minimal metadata only) from its public release repo. This is on by default and can be
turned off with amenbo config set update_check false or the AMENBO_UPDATE_CHECK=0 environment
variable. The check carries none of your data, though by its nature the distribution host can see
your IP address and roughly which version you run. Amenbo never downloads or installs updates on
its own.
At rest, your data is protected by your OS’s full-disk encryption (FileVault on macOS, BitLocker on Windows). There is nothing to turn on.
Amenbo Viewer (the mobile app)
Amenbo Viewer is the iOS and Android app that reads your Amenbo records on your phone.
It collects nothing. There is no account, no sign-up, no sign-in. There is no analytics and no usage tracking.
It only reads. It reads what is in your store, and never writes back.
The store is yours: a Worker on your own Cloudflare account, or your own iCloud. We are not on the route and not in the store, and we hold no key.
Your records travel encrypted. They are decrypted on your device and nowhere else. The key is kept in the iOS Keychain and the Android Keystore, never next to the decrypted copy.
The camera is used only to read a QR code. The reading happens on your device; neither the image nor what it reads leaves it.
Who your records pass through
| Store | Passes through | What we see |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Your own Cloudflare account | Nothing |
| iCloud | Apple’s iCloud | Nothing |

| Cookie identifier, IP address, the URL you’re viewing, referrer, browser and device details | Analytics | |

Contact
The contact form collects:
- What your message is about
- Your name
- Company or team (optional)
- Email address
- Your message
We use this only to reply to you and to keep a record of the exchange. Nothing else. It is never used for advertising or sales, and never passed to anyone as a mailing list.
On its way to us, your message passes through:
| Company | Role |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Serving the form, bot checks (Turnstile), receiving and forwarding mail |
| Resend | Sending the notification email |
| Storing the received mail (in the responder’s Gmail) |
We delete it once the exchange is over and there is no reason to keep it.
To see, correct, or delete what we hold, write to us through the same form.
